Throughout the UK and Ireland we are blessed with an abundance of historic, romantic, beautiful and architecturally important country houses and mansions, all with some fascinating and personal family stories behind them. There are in reality very few castles, towers or fortified houses that survive today in anything like their original state and of those that do, even fewer have been restored or renovated to a standard that can accommodate our discerning guests.
Many more country houses and mansions are still around today and several have been aesthetically refurbished to provide excellently comfortable family homes. Perhaps originally designed with fewer bathrooms but more dressing rooms and servant's quarters, their owners have moved with the times and it is now very unusual not to find 5 star luxury country houses where all the bedrooms have their own en-suite or private bathroom and shower and indeed some will come with adjoining dressing rooms. Attic rooms have been converted into children's bedrooms and basements transformed into domestic offices, laundries and games rooms. Large family kitchens are the order of the day.
The character of these wonderful country houses and mansions live on in their new guise and it is testament to the owners that they have accepted the need to keep them alive and allow others to experience country house living at its best.
At LTR we believe that it doesn't get much better than to holiday in 5 star luxury country house accommodation where the comfort and grandeur is as it was in its heyday but simply with better plumbing and heating.
