Accommodation
Luxury Hotels
Scotland
There are only a few 5 star hotels with luxury accommodation in Scotland and guests need to make their selections carefully. We are very strong on private country houses, stately homes, mansions or castles available for exclusive use but we do not have a lot of great hotels. Our larger corporate groups tend to head for Gleneagles or the private members's club at Skibo but there are some fine, small country house hotels which we often recommend and Kinloch House near Blairgowrie is a fine example of this. There are some wonderfully quirky properties like the Three Chimneys on Skye which has 5 star accommodation and food to die for - all within the walls of an old stone croft!
There are a number of similar places that are off the beaten track but do offer that wonderful mix of Michelin star food with unusual but luxury accommodation, for instance, The Boath House near Nairn has won many awards. At LTR we will suggest only the very best and only places that you will remember for ever.
On the west coast of Scotland, the two most impressive hotels are both castles, Glenapp and Inverlochy. They are supremely comfortable, located in hugely dramatic landscapes and gourmet and award winning food is served by friendly, local staff. The Loch Torridon Hotel is hugely popular for guests who love to walk in the highlands, Kinloch Lodge on the Isle of Skye seems to have bounced back and we use the Roxburghe in the Scottish Borders for guests visiting the lowlands. No area has more than a couple of really comfortable hotels and LTR monitors carefully those that are available and any new ones which arrive on the scene.
In the capital, Edinburgh we tend to steer guests towards the Balmoral, if they prefer a larger hotel with castle views or the Howard in the New Town area, if somewhere smaller and more cosy is appropriate. LTR advises on suitable hotels throughout Scotland wherever you might be looking for 5 star luxury hotel accommodation.
