Activities in Scotland

Activities in Scotland

During your vacation or family reunion, at one of our castles in Scotland, you may want to have some activities to entertain your party. Here are a few suggestions to give you some ideas. We can also organise hot air ballooning, quad biking and many other activities. If there is something you particularly want to do, tell us and we will help to make it happen.

Clay Pidgeon Shooting
You will have the very best instruction available in Scotland. This activity is always a popular one but always one that requires good listeners if points are to be scored in bulk! You will be in the hands of the professionals who, after a short period of instruction, will have you blasting every clay out of the sky  (We hope!!).

Wild Game Archery Hunt
After a short period of instruction, you will enjoy a very different experience in archery. As you move through the woods you will come across Grizzly bears, wild boar and deer. These will be full 3D replicas of the real thing!

Falconry Display
The stars of this performance will be a selection of magnificent birds of prey such as the Eagle Owl, and Harris Hawk. They are always keen to be on the centre stage, which they will be when they begin their performance. Linking 2 rows of clients and creating a tunnel followed by one of the birds flying through this tunnel only inches away.

Ancestral Homes

Scotland has a huge selection of Palaces, Castles and Country houses which are open to the public and many fascinating ones which are not. LTR will arrange for you after hours access to those that are open and private access to those that are not. This will be combined with advice on what to see and experienced guides to escort you round. Homes that are very popular with our guests include www.glamis-castle.co.uk , www.mountstuart.com, www.culzeancastle.net , www.scone-palace.co.uk and www.traquair.co.uk .

Music

Guests often enjoy some evening entertainment and we can provide a wide range of musical bands, pipers and other entertainers, including magicians, storytellers and public speakers. The bands will be in traditional Scottish dress and tuition can be provided for guests wishing to learn Highland reels.

Distilleries

Throughout the country but particularly in Speyside, you will discover distilleries who are happy to receive guests and explain the process of how they produce their special blend of 'Scottish water'. However some distilleries are a lot more interesting than others and LTR will advise their guests on which to visit.

Fitness Training and Spa Treatments

These can be provided for guests either at the Castle or close by. Our homes are perfect venues for guests who need to detox and get back in touch with nature. The estates offer thousands of acres for runs, swims or hearty walks, plus plenty of quiet areas for yoga and meditation. Masseurs and personal trainers can be imported and a personal programme devised for your particular needs.

The LTR Personal fitness trainer, David Calder, will work out a programme for you and we can organise for spa treatments where you are staying.

Off Road Driving

This can be arranged at designated centres or on many of the estates that we represent. Guests drive landrovers or other 4x4 style vehicles and experience the thrill of driving over rough & steep terrain.

Fishing & Shooting

Scotland is rich with both activities and has some of the wolrd's most famous salmon rivers, grouse moors and pheasant shoots. Guests are advised to book well in advance as the top estates are extremely popular and enjoy a high level of repeat business. LTR can advise on how best to proceed and instruction can be provided on request.

Gorge Walking

Very popular in Scotland and available at a number of locations.

Art Classes

Have an art teacher visit you at the Castle where you are staying and conduct art classes on the lawn as you try and capture of majesty of Scotland on canvass. What could be a more peaceful way to relax and enjoy your surroundings?

Helicopter Rides

Increasingly popular with guests either needing speedy access to golf courses or as a method of enjoying the more remote parts of Scotland. Day trips can be arranged including a stop off for lunch and maybe a Castle visit. Great fun to explore the West Coast with all its different islands and to view miles of perfect beaches or pop in at a remote distillery for a tour and tasting.

Horse Riding

Scotland is well supplied with equestrian centres where guests can enjoy escorted rides across barren moorland, through beautiful woodland, along deserted beaches and open farm land. These can be tailored to your needs and last for as long as you request. Previous riding experience is not essential.

Golf

Visiting the home of golf opens up plenty of opportunities to play on a few of our famous golf courses. The links courses are what most overseas guests are anxious to play but we also have many fine inland ones and indeed practically every town in Scotland has its own course. Many first time visitors head for St Andrews but the Old Course has very limited access and we try and steer guests towards the likes of Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and further up the coast to wonderful courses like Cruden Bay. The four main golfing areas are East Lothian, Fife, Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire. We can book tee times and put togther itineraries.
