LTR hosted 5 top travel writers last weekend at two of our Wiltshire homes, which was an action packed 24 hour visit. The guests were transported from London and arrived in time for tea by the pool at Langton Park, followed by a quick swim, an excellent dinner and then dancing in the basement nightclub, with Tom Gorst as our DJ. Having dined rather too well, we staggered off to bed and were up again at 8 am for zumba in the hall. This was a great way to wake us all up and was followed by a delicious breakfast of eggs benedict and an hour walking around the grounds, with Chris the forager. A fascinating man, who taught us what plants we could or could not eat and we discovered a lot about the history and folklore of rural foliage.
We then drove our guests to Eastcourt, which is a fabulous monastic home built in 1640 but recently much restored and now sophisticated and chic, with amazing lighting throughout and very stylish decor. Rory the chef prepared a delicious light lunch and we had a fun wander round the house. Guests left at 1.30 pm and were back in London in time for various appointments by 4 pm. This was a great opportunity for LTR to show off a couple of its more contemporary homes which are proving very popular with London guests and which provide a nice alternative to the more ‘ancestral pile’ kind of estate, where the owners history is very much on display. LTR now has a varied portfolio of houses and castles and can cater to whatever style of home our guests prefer. We also tried to illustrate to the travel writers the level of service and hopefully by the end of their brief but action packed 24 hour visit, they could see the trouble we take over our guests!
