Aldourie Castle has a rich history and is now a fascinating home that has been completely and sensitively restored over the last few years.
This historic Scottish castle and estate is situated on the southern shores of Loch Ness, close to the city of Inverness.
The Scottish castle is available to be hired for exclusive use offering a rare taste of authentic Highland Estate living at its best and set in 500 acres of glorious highland countryside.
The first thing you notice about Aldourie Castle is its dream location - the lawns lead down from the castle to the shores of Loch Ness. The estate is highly civilised, with wonderful walks through formal gardens and woodland.
There is a private marina from which to embark onto the loch. The castle was conceived as a family home, and the restoration and modernisation undertaken in the last few years provide an intimate setting where luxurious accommodation, is tempered with echoes of a bygone era.
Guests can wander from the opulent drawing room or library through the elegant dining room and into the billiard room for plasma screen video, Bose audio and snooker entertainment. Then it is up the well worn stone staircases to state bedrooms overlooking Loch Ness and the hills beyond.
Aldourie Castle has 13 double bedrooms, of which 4 can be twins, and 2 single bedrooms interconnecting with two of the double bedrooms. 9 of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities. Each bedroom and bathroom has been meticulously restored to its former splendour but with a very authentic and individual charm.
Aldourie Castle was first recorded as a mansion house in 1626 and is now the only habitable castle on Loch Ness. Including a wing by the famous Scottish architect Sir Robert Lorimer, Aldourie Castle is a classic example of Scottish Baronial architecture.
LTR can organise a wealth of activities for our visitors to this spectacularly beautiful part of the highlands. Boat cruises on Loch Ness from the estate's private marina; field sports (pheasant, grouse and partridge shooting); salmon and trout fishing; clay pigeon shooting; golf; quad biking; archery; falconry; bicycling and dolphin watching give a sample of the activities that we can arrange for you.
There's nothing quite so encouraging as Scottish Baronial - all the grandeur you could desire, plus deep comfort, glorious plumbing and wonderful views. Aldourie Castle is undoubtedly one of the very best castles in Scotland that is available to hire on an exclusive use basis.
