Battens House, located in a secluded corner of Hampshire was built in 1748.
This charming manor house was once the home of Izaac Walton, the author of ‘The Compleat Angler’, a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse. There is a working farm behind the house and in front there are fields and a river where fishing can be arranged. The 15 acres of grounds include formal and informal gardens, a swimming pool and tennis court.
Battens is a family home and as such is well prepared for children, with croquet lawn, badminton court, trampoline, swings, slide and a great tree house. This exclusive use house sleeps 16 in a variety of luxury bedrooms and all the rooms throughout are light and spacious.
There is a very pretty kitchen and a mix of formal and informal rooms, which guests can enjoy depending on the occasion.
This is a delightful family home and would really suit small groups who want to explore this stunning part of England.
Access to London is very easy and guests can enjoy the ancient Roman town of Winchester with its famous cathedral and the New Forest which is made up of the largest tracts of unenclosed pasture and forests in the south east of England.
