Brocket Hall in England is a grand stately home and its fine architecture, oil paintings and antique furniture make it a very special place.
It is ideal for private events and celebrations, which can be combined with golf on two Championship golf courses. Situated in 543 acres of mature parkland, with stunning views over the Broadwater Lake, Brocket Hall is only 45 minutes from central London.
There is luxury accommodation in 30 en-suite guest rooms decorated to a high standard and with each guest room bearing the name of a notable figure who has been closely associated with the house.
Dinners can be held for up to 54 people in the grand setting of the 60 foot ballroom, where Lord Melbourne entertained heads of State. For more intimate settings the Dining Room overlooks the Well lawn or there is the Family Dining Room.
The Brocket Hall that we know today, was designed by renowned architect James Paine for the owner, Sir Mathew Lamb in 1760.
However, the Hall stands on the site of two previous houses, the original of which was built in 1239. Sir Mathew's son became the first Lord Melbourne, largely through the efforts of his wife who was a mistress of the Prince Regent, later George IV, a frequent visitor to Brocket Hall.
The second Lord Melbourne became Queen Victoria's first Prime Minister, with whom she struck up a close friendship. Victoria herself was another monarch who often stayed at the Hall. On the death of Melbourne in 1848, the Hall passed to his sister who was to marry Lord Palmerston, another of Queen Victoria's Prime Ministers. More recently Baroness Thatcher spent time at this stately home to write her memoirs.
Brocket Hall offers numerous sporting options to suit your specific tastes, ranging from the typically English country pursuits of croquet, tennis, archery and falconry displays to action-packed motorised sports, shooting and much more.
Activities include Argocat driving, blindfold and off road driving, Honda pilots, Rally Karts, Hovercraft, Push-Pull driving, Radio Controlled cars, Laser clay and clay pigeon shooting, Cross bow and Longbow archery, rifle and pistol shooting, sheep dog handling, falconry and table football.
With access to 2 excellent golf courses and London being so near, Brocket Hall is a wonderful stately home for guests to enjoy for a long weekend.
