Gilmerton House is a handsome Grade 1 Listed Georgian mansion which is surrounded by an estate of over 1,000 acres, of which some 100 acres are lawns, gardens, woodlands and walks.
This magnificent, quintessential Adams' designed house has been home to the Kinloch family for twelve generations and LTR guests much enjoy this luxurious exclusive use home in the heart of East Lothian.
Gilmerton is perfectly situated for corporate meetings as well as luxury vacations or family reunions and weddings, being under an hour's drive from Edinburgh airport and with Edinburgh city centre only 40 minutes away.
The country house can accommodate up to 20 guests to stay but it is usual for parties to be no more than 18, while up to 40 people can be entertained in the wood -panelled music room. Larger parties can be catered for in a marquee on the lawns in front of the house.
Gilmerton House has two drawing rooms, one on the ground floor with French windows leading out onto the garden and the other one on the first floor with long windows that open on to a balcony with views over parkland.
Both are lovely rooms for pre dinner drinks. The bedrooms have been renovated to incorporate en-suite bathrooms and are now very comfortable and well laid out.
Gilmerton has always been very popular with those wanting to play the challenging links golf courses in the area, which include Muirfield, Gullane, Luffness, North Berwick and Dunbar or who want to be close to the capital of Scotland and yet still be in the countryside.
It is also a perfect location in August for the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe. The East Lothian coastline is very attractive with boat trips out to the Bass Rock to see the magnificent birdlife, explore the small East Lothian fishing villages or go walking in the Lammermuir Hills.
