Marlborough Manor has a history that spans more than a thousand years. The current Manor, built in 1775 and reconstructed in 1820 by Sir Hugh Smyth, is a late Georgian masterpiece with many additional features being added by ‘Paul’ Geddes Hyslop, the renowned architect who specialised in salvaging Georgian features from fashionable Georgian houses in London and reinstating them elsewhere to great effect.
The Manor, set in its own magnificent parkland with its rolling hills and woodland, is situated within close proximity of the M4 with its easy access to London and Bath, making it the perfect setting for entertaining in glorious style. With 10 bedrooms and outstanding outdoor sporting facilities, the Manor is the perfect location with endless opportunities to host wonderful house parties or celebrate an important birthday.
Aside from the beautiful main house, there is an annexe with a further 2 bedrooms and a long hall where guests can relax or dine in a formal informal setting. There are a number of other outbuildings including a huge pool house, tennis hut and lovely formal gardens. The house is surrounded by woodland and a small stream runs through the village. The interiors are gracious and yet cozy and the house feels very welcoming. A lovely option for guests wishing to be near London whilst still in a rural location.
