The delightful walled gardens, with their magnificent views, are attributed to the world renowned designer, Gertrude Jekyll. The walled garden, lavender borders and holly hedges hiding secret enclaves, are meticulously maintained in all their original glory to this day. Within the grounds grass and hard tennis courts, croquet lawn, gardens and terraces are there to be enjoyed until nearly midnight at midsummer, such are the long evenings in this part of the world.
For the golfer there are a dozen courses, including several championship ones, within 20 minutes drive of Greywalls. The house itself overlooks the world famous greens of the 9th and 18th holes at Muirfield.Nearby, sandy beaches, beautiful and so often deserted, are a haven for a myriad of seabirds, and the glorious scenery of East Lothian with its ancient castles, abbeys, stately homes and picturesque fishing villages are but a few minutes drive away along peaceful, winding country lanes.
