One of the finest examples of a Victorian Hunting Lodge, Mar is located near Balmoral in Royal Deeside, and was formerly the residence of the Princess Royal, daughter of King Edward VII. She married the estate's owner, the 6th Earl of Fife, later 1st Duke of Fife. In 1995, Mar Lodge was acquired by the National Trust for Scotland who have carried out extensive renovations to provide some of the finest self contained apartments in the north of Scotland amongst unparalleled scenery.
Following the total refurbishment of the Lodge the accommodation is now decorated to an exceedingly high standard and can sleep up to 30 people in great comfort making use of the grand dining room, principal drawing room and other sitting rooms and billiard room which the house has to offer. The accommodation is laid out in 5 apartments giving added privacy, while enjoying the flexibility of all being opened up for large parties.
