40th Birthday Party IdeaBirthday weekend with 20 old friends
Susie was feeling a little flat! Turning 40 and depressed at still being single. Fortunately some good friends picked up on this and asked LTR to arrange a special surprise. In the belief she was joining her best girlfriend for a quiet weekend in Scotland, Susie boarded the train to Edinburgh. On arrival, she was collected and taken on a slight detour!
Meanwhile 18 old friends had assembled at Hoscote House in the Scottish Borders for a weekend house party. Susie walked in not quite knowing what was going on, to be suddenly surrounded by friends from as far afield as Los Angeles and Singapore. After a hearty lunch, the boys left for the local golf course (where many balls were lost), whilst the girls did some serious retail therapy in the cashmere outlets of Hawick.
Pre-dinner drinks were set for seven and everyone emerged in their finery set for quite an evening. A wonderful local chef had been hired for the weekend and she did not disappoint. After a delicious four course dinner, a lot of fine wine and a mildly indecent wedding cake, Susie was summoned to the front hall. Here the best Elvis impersonator money could buy, took over!! By the time Elvis was on his 3rd costume change the girls were well and truly rocking.
Feeling slightly delicate on Sunday morning, their spirits were yet again elevated when suddenly a fire engine appeared. Fortunately a false alarm but there is something about firemen and the delicious brunch of eggs Benedict and bucks fizz was temporarily neglected. Everyone left after lunch to wind their way home and no one was in better spirits than the birthday girl!
