Garden & Cultural Tours

Few British institutions are as important as the garden. On our English garden holiday vacations, you will see gardens made famous on television, grand gardens that have developed over the centuries, and even small, private gardens, very much the domain of their owners.

Most days you will enjoy at least three gardens under the expert tutelage of a recognised horticulturalist with specialist knowledge of the chosen gardens.

Indulge your senses with the truly fantastic array of sights and smells around England's gardens, from the grand designs attached to stately homes to the secret delights and private passions of many fascinating individuals and their more modest homes. Full days of visits, escorted by our experts, take in a mix of these special places. You don't need to know a lot, because the tours are all very relaxed and very sociable affairs which you can enjoy at any level.

Cornwall is one of our most popular destinations, with opportunities to see the amazing Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Bosvigo and many other sub tropical garden with the odd foray across the border into Devon to see the likes of Castle Hill.

The Cotswolds is another area rich with wonderful gardens and based at The Lords of the Manor hotel, LTR run  tours of gardens like Kiftsgate which is home to the largest rose in England; Hidcote Manor which has a wonderful 20th century garden; Eyford House as well as Barnsley House where Rosemary Verey made her name, Sudeley Castle and Sezincote, which was designed by Humphrey Repton and is essentially a renaissance-style garden with elements of Hindu style. Further north, the Duchess of Northumberland has done an amazing job at Alnwick Castle.

You may also want to experience some of the major flower shows like Tatton Park, Hampton Court or Chelsea flower show. We maintain a busy schedule but there's plenty of time to recover and socialise in the evenings back at lovely country houses in glorious countryside!

We also organise Cultural Tours and Opera Tours on the same format, based at stately homes in the North of England and the Borders of Scotland where groups of up to 80 guests enjoy evening musical entertainment and then other local attractions during the day, with time off for pursuing their own private interests or a bit of fishing! We prefer to arrange our tours in a way that allows a very wide range of guests to enjoy the areas they are visiting to the full.

Guests are accommodated in local luxury hotels and private houses and castles so as to combine a wonderful mix of culture, sport and fun.
