Greece
Greece and her surrounding islands are one of the favourite holiday destinations in Europe.
Greece is a magnetic country, popular for its wonderful beaches and its ancient history. There are hundreds of archaeological and historical sites to visit which showcase the country's often violent past. Its landscape is mainly mountainous and the ground is not very fertile, except for some areas along the Greek mainland.
Greece is surrounded by the Aegean and the Ionian Sea and the country has 1,400 islands but only 169 of them are inhabited. These Greek islands are the most popular destinations, especially in summer.
