Scotland Garden and Cultural Tours
For the last 10 years LTR has run a successful series of Garden and Cultural Tours in all parts of the country for groups of like minded people from all over the world. These groups have historically been restricted to about 16-24 so that they can all be accommodated in one of LTRs houses or castles.
Our long standing relationship with the National Trust for Scotland has allowed us to perpetuate an annual lecture series which is oversubscribed in each year. Alumni groups from the United States, Museum Fellows, patrons and Boards of Directors of galleries and other institutions from around the world have all come to Scotland at some stage or other to ‘get behind the scenes’ of many of our well kept secrets.
For example in 2010 LTR proudly presented some of Scotland’s finest treasures to 20 members of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens who took part in a ten day celebration of our cultural heritage.
They were hosted to drinks by the chief curator of the National Trust for Scotland at their prestigious headquarters and then to dinner at the Georgian House.
They visited the family home of the Duke of Hamilton at Lennoxlove (links) to view the historic gardens and then onto lunch at the Lutyens masterpiece of Greywalls with the Gertrude Jekyll garden.
Trailing north the group stayed with Andrew and Nikki Bradford at Kincardine Castle (links to Kincardine) for a few nights, with side visits to Crathes Castle, the Cruikshank Botanics and Pitmedden Garden via Castle Fraser.
It is the combination of private visits, outstanding guides and knowledgeable experts in their own particular field that have made these luxury holiday tours so popular.
