Country Pursuits

One of the greatest things about escaping from the city to the countryside is the abundance of outdoor pursuits that are available to fill an afternoon or morning or even to keep you busy all day.  These are a very important ingredient of an LTR holiday as they help guests to appreciate and enjoy the great outdoors and is an excellent way of having fun with other guests and friends or bonding with colleagues.  Whichever part of the UK or Ireland you find yourself in will to some extent dictate the activities that we can arrange but much the same country pursuits are available regardless of where you are.  

Clay pigeon shooting - this remains very popular as it can be enjoyed by a large group and adjusted to suit all skill levels.  Nearly all our houses and castles can arrange this on the estate or very close by.

Falconry - this would usually take place on the front lawn of your house or in a nearby field and appeals to many because it is great fun and good for group participation.  There will be a selection of magnificent birds of prey such as the Eagle Owl, and Harris Hawk.   Watching Harris Hawks, falcons and eagles fly at high speed and land on a colleagues shoulder or arm is incredibly exciting and impressive.

Horse Riding - the UK and Ireland are well supplied with equestrian centres where guests can enjoy escorted rides across barren moorland, through beautiful woodland, along deserted beaches and open farm land.  These can be tailored to your needs and last for as long as you request.  Previous riding experience is not essential and many estates will offer riding on their own estate which will make it a rather more private and bespoke affair.

Other country pursuits which take place outdoors and are very popular include quad biking on estate tracks, off road driving over rough terrain and bicycling up a few local hills.  You may like to turn some of these activities into a competition with a prize giving at the end of the day.  These activities can all be arranged by LTR at whichever location you choose for your bespoke luxury vacation and we look forward to assisting with your holiday plans.  Of course many guests much prefer to enjoy a peaceful walk along a secluded stretch of beach or through attractive woodlands and this can just as easily be arranged.
