Why LTR
Activities in the UK and Europe
Fishing & Shooting
Salmon fishing, as well as sea trout and trout fishing is abundant throughout the UK and Ireland and indeed you can shoot pheasants, partridges, grouse and wildfowl and stalk for both red and roe deer in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales with other game in between.
However, it is generally recognised that the best grouse shooting is in parts of Scotland and the north of England, while the best red deer stalking is probably to be had in some of the remoter parts of the Highlands and northern Scotland.
There are wonderful parts of Ireland such as the River Blackwater in County Waterford which has seen monumental runs of sea trout until recent years and the Tweed in the Scottish Borders which returned a record 23,000 salmon caught on rod and line in 2010.
The Lammermuirs, again in the Scottish Borders, saw some terrific bags of grouse also in 2010 and generally the wild stock of pheasants provided some great sport throughout the UK and Ireland.
But where to go and when? Where to stay? These are all the vital questions that any sportsman needs answered before he can sleep easy that he has arranged the best sporting holiday possible and at LTR our seasoned travel advisors can advise if the woodcock are ‘in’ or if the chick counts on various moors are encouraging for the coming season.
At LTR we only specialise in tailor made bespoke fishing and shooting excursions, and normally then, only as part of a longer vacation or holiday - we do not act as sporting agents for estates around the country as we need to be able to give our clients impartial advice and be able to mix and match according to our clients’ wishes.
