What to expect
We realise at LTR that excellent food and drink are essential to the enjoyment of any holiday. To that end, we place huge emphasis on ensuring that we provide the very highest gastronomic standards for your stay.
All of us at LTR enjoy our food! This means, that between us, we have an extremely good understanding of the varied culinary demands of our guests.
Chefs
Many of our private mansions, country houses and castles throughout the UK and Europe have their own personal cooks but we occasionally bring in our own recommended chefs. All our chefs use estate grown or local organic produce wherever possible, and source the finest ingredients to delight every palate. Grand country houses have grand kitchen gardens. An important part of the LTR experience is access to delicious, home-grown, organic food; fresh and perfectly cooked. The chefs are more than happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements and provide alternatives for guests with food allergies or intolerances, as well as those requiring Halal or Kosher food.
Meals
A hearty cooked breakfast is always available each morning at all of our luxurious venues. Lunch can either be a simple affair, picnic or whatever you may require. As Henry James extolled “Under certain circumstances, there are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea ”. With freshly baked cakes and scones served in the comfort of the drawing room in front of a roaring log fire our guests will not be disappointed.
Dinner is normally a formal affair but can be totally dictated by you, our guests. A three or four course dinner will be served in a spectacular dining room where each course has been agreed in advance, after consultation with you, to ensure that we meet your needs and exceed your expectations for each dinner party.
Drink
The cellars of all our private homes are extensive and all wines are agreed in advance to complement the different courses. All the private houses stock a wide range of spirits, malt whiskies and liqueurs as well as soft drinks. For any specific wine requests we use several of the best wine merchants to ensure your wishes are granted.
Restaurants and Dining Out
Some days, activities will take you off the estate providing the opportunity to sample some of the local cuisine nearby. Whether it is the Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye, the Fish Bar restaurant in Anstruther, The Fat Duck at Bray in Berkshire or the Yorke Arms at Ramsgill-in-Nidderdale, North Yorkshire we are able to recommend and organise for you to visit the best restaurants in the area. Enjoyably, we have built up contacts and dined in many of best restaurants around! These experiences will only enhance the enjoyment of a holiday with LTR.
