The Team
Jonathan Townsend-Rose FRICS
- Founder and Director
Jonathan qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1980 and has spent over 30 years managing historic, sporting and agricultural estates throughout England and Scotland. This has given him a rare insight into the workings of these magnificent properties as well as a good understanding of the challenges involved. In 1999 he founded LTR and asked Andrew to join him. Jonathan has built up an impressive knowledge of Scotland itself and of what the country has to offer, as well as a keen interest in all the sport available. Jonathan is married with 2 children and lives in the Scottish Borders.
Andrew Loyd - Director
Andrew trained with the Savoy Group and then spent 10 years in hotel management for top London hotels. This was followed by 8 years managing private estates for some prominent New York families which took him all over the US and Canada. It was on returning from the US in 1999, that Andrew and Jonathan joined forces and decided to form LTR. After 7 years being based in the Scottish Borders, Andrew opened their Gloucestershire office to focus on the needs of our southern clients. In 2010, Andrew set up the Bespoke Travel Club and LTR became the founding member. Andrew is also a 2011 Conde Nast Traveler Villa Rental Specialist. He is married with 2 step-children.
Denzil Skinner - Managing Director
Denzil joined LTR as Managing Director in the summer of 2011, having spent twenty years with leading Scottish jeweller, Hamilton and Inches. During his time with Hamilton and Inches, Denzil gained a unique insight into the luxury market place and has a great understanding of the needs of wealthy customers looking for attention to detail and a highly personalised service. He also brings with him a wider business experience gained through the MBO at Hamilton and Inches in 1998 and as the current Chairman of Essential Edinburgh, Edinburgh's Business Improvement District. Denzil is married with 3 children and lives in Edinburgh.
Ken Chernoff - Senior Travel Consultant
Ken arrived at LTR in the Spring of 2005. He came from the hotel industry, having previously managed the Johnstounburn House Hotel in East Lothian for 10 years. Originally from Montreal, Ken is a graduate of Dartmouth College (USA) and lived in Nairobi and London, before moving to the Scottish Borders, which he regards as a ‘little piece of paradise’. Ken brings an International perspective to LTR and the Company has benefited hugely from his sales and operational skills. Ken is married with 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
Helen McKenzie Smith - Senior Travel Consultant
Helen started out in life as a classic car valuer with a London auction house but on marrying a Scot she moved north of the border and so began a 20 years (and counting!) career specialising in the 'exclusive use' sector. She and her husband have looked after some of Scotland's best known luxury properties including Ackergill Tower and Myres Castle and in recent years she has worked independently assisting house owners to develop and market their properties to their best advantage, whilst ensuring that her guests who visit Scotland have relaxed and memorable stays. Helen joined LTR in October 2011. She is married with 2 children.
Annabel Wishart - Travel Consultant
Whilst living in London, Annabel worked for World Challenge Expeditions. Here she planned adventurous expeditions for school children and exciting gap years for students sending them to the far corners of the World. Having arrived back in the Scottish Borders, Annabel started working for LTR in 2008 and enjoys seeing the guests realise their dreams. Annabel is married with 3 children.
Suzanne Hancock - Marketing Executive
Suzanne joined LTR as Marketing Executive in November 2011. Having spent time as a marketing assistant for a computer firm she is looking forward to the challenges of working within the luxury travel industry. Suzanne studied for 3 years at Herriot Watt University and received her Bacs Degree in Business Management which included the study of marketing and consumer behaviour. Suzanne lives in the Borders.
